A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP or BP) is a written list of strategies and supports for an individual which encourages appropriate behaviors and discourages inappropriate behaviors. A Behavior Intervention Plan is created AFTER a FBA is conducted which helps identify the function of the behavior. The team should meet to develop the BIP and ensure that all aspects of the plan are realistic and agreed upon by all those involved. In addition, data collection must continue in order to determine progress. Following a period of approximately 6 weeks, the team should reconvene to evaluate the effectiveness of the BIP and make any necessary revisions.
